Violet,

I had a time crunch this year and pretty much no budget, so I hunted the
crafts areas of stores for inspiration. I came up with door hangers (acid
and lignin free, so they could be put in the baby scrapbook if desired). I
bought all kinds of baby related stickers and "individualized" each hanger.
For a saying I wrote, "Thanks, Mom, for feeding me the best!! In celebration
of World Breastfeeding Week 2001" in gold ink. I will let the nurses choose
which ones they want to give out. The goal is for every Mom who is in our
unit that week and breastfeeding to receive one. And since there is a
circular cutout area where you would hang it on a door knob, someone also
pointed out that you could instead insert a picture of the baby there. And
after I made them (had so much fun choosing designs, stickers, etc.) I
decided that if this goes over well, next year I will have a session with
all the materials at hand and let the nurses make them! [I will be doing the
candy thing for the nurses this year. Bought little glass bowls, gold
ribbon, etc.] I also plan to put fresh flowers and a note in the Employee
Pump Room that week, thanking those Moms for working so hard for their
babies.
