Hello All,

Here in Japan breast massage is very popular. Nurses and Midwives know
how to do it and teach mothers how to to. It is used to relive primary
engorgement, but it is also further believed to enhance milk production
and to increase good supply. SOme might even go as far as to say in
order to have a good supply one should do massage.

There are several different "schools of massage" one of the most popular
being Oketani method. Oketani massage also ties into breastfeeding
philosophy which recommends weaning abruptly when the child can walk.

Some mother here massage on a daily basis, others will visit their
midwives to have a massage for a variety of reasons.

If anyone would like more information on this topic, please contact me
and I can direct you to more information- though some of it will be in
Japanese.

Take Care,
