Quick question...

What could be an appropriate breastmilk substitute (hopefully temporary) for
an 8 month old baby who is severely allergic to soy and cow & goat dairy
products and has GER and who's mother must have an I-123 scan with complete
cessation of breastfeeding for 3-26 days (her docs say 3 days, Hale says
6-26 days). She is pumping, but only started yesterday for a Tuesday scan.
I suggested a milk bank, but the donating mothers must be free from soy and
dairy so I don't know how practical that will be.

Apparently the scan cannot be delayed until she can store more milk and she
is not pumping very much.

The baby's ped has recommended rice formula which something I am not
familiar with. I don't know if I will talk with this mother again (she
lives quite a distance from me). I suggested she ask her doctor about
Nutramigen, but I don't know enough about it to know if that is appropriate.

Just curious!

Kathy
