I suspect this new formula is genetically engineered. Pharming has a patent,
# 6,013,857 called "Transgenic bovines and milk from transgenic bovines." see
the US patent and trademark http://www.uspto.gov/padft/index.html Use the
number to get to the site.

Pharming(founded in Leiden, Netherlands, a biopharmaceutical company) is
collaborating with Numico in the genetic engineering of Human Lactoferrin
hLF.see
http://www.pharming.com/Products/speciality_products2.html

If you go to the US patent and trademark office and do a boolean search for
genetic engineering and human milk you will get 47 hits for the years
1976-2000. Some of these patents are patents that the US Government has
rights to(NIH). But I have been told by the FDA that the bovine lactoferrin
on their potential GRAS list is not genetically engineered. This bovine
lactoferrin is listed to a company called DMV in the Netherlands(largest
dairy company in the world). I wonder?.... Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC
