With all due respect to this nurse who will demand a 600 gm weight
gain...WHOSE BABY IS THIS ANYWAY!! Sorry for shouting but I get so steamed
with so called health professionals who go around behaving in this
paternalistic fashion. ' Nurse' can say whatever she wants but Mom does not
have to listen. This was born out time and time again in my public health
nurse practice where I would have preferred to see babies drink SIN instead of
Carnation Evaporated milk mixed with corn syrup. However, I decided that it
was more important to keep the lines of communication open with these mothers
because there would likely be other ways that I could  assist them in the
health maintenance of their children.
The most important thing is to continue to support this mother as much as
possible so that she will feel more confident in facing this nurse.
I think that there will be an ARGHHH! coming from Dr. Jack on this one.
