Our prenatal bf class instructor had 2 moms ask about heavy lifting at
class Monday night. One mom said that she was not allowed to go back to
work as long as she is nursing because of the lifting involved. The
other one said that she was told that she could lift weights to tone
muscles but not heavy weights that she uses for body building as long as
she was breastfeeding because it had something to do with
overdevelopment of the pectoralis muscles interfering with milk
production or milk flow. This didn't make any sense to me at all so I
am throwing it out for comment from the experts...where in the world
could this advice have come from?????

Thanks-

Kathy Leeper, MD, IBCLC
