Judy you wrote, "While I don't have data on formula contaminants, I fully
agree with Sandra Steingraber that contaminant levels in cows milk and
formulas are going to
be much lower than what is found in human milk."

Does this statement mean that there is data on formula contaminants (PCBs for
example) that is published? Are there studies that compare infants
exclusively formula fed versus infants exclusively breastfed in regard to
organochlorine compounds? Maureen Minchin in her book, "Breastfeeding
Matters," states that a survey in the US in 1985 revealed that 78% of 1200
milk samples (cow's milk samples) were contaminated with organchlorine
compounds.

What is your basis for belief without data that formula and cow's milk are
less contaminated than human milk? Valerie W. McClain, IBCLC
