As I read the discussion on breastfeeding slogans, I thought I'd tell you about a campaign to raise funds for an addition at the hospital where I am
employed. It began 2 years ago shortly after I became employed there as their lc in a brand new position. All the employees received letters
asking for contributions in return for a brick with an inscription of their choice (number of letters and lines as well as the size of the brick
was based upon the amount of the contribution) on an inside wall of the new addition. Newly employed as an IBCLC at this hospital, I felt it was
a wonderful opportunity to express my appreciation to the hospital for employing me in a brand new position as their lc, as well as making a
statement about something that I felt so passionate about. Many people chose bricks in memory of loved ones, dedications and so forth. There
was really no limit as to what could be put on these bricks. So, with a donation that my husband and I felt we could manage, we were able to
"purchase" a small brick using three lines with no more than 15 letters on each line. We decided on the following:
                               Breastfeeding -
                               Good for Baby,
                              Mom, the World
Shortly after turning in our donation, I attempted to have it changed to "best" instead of "good", but the brick had already "gone to the printer".
The addition is complete, home to a new ER dept., registration and surgery.
