Thank you. I almost posted the same thing. This is currently being debated by our MD's and would love an actual study. This says there are no studies at this time and recommend continuing with the current policy of on demand feeding. But would love some research evidence. However, they point out that it is unethical to create a study in which mother's are told to feed on a schedule. However, you could look at a cohort of mother's who did schedule feed vs. on demand feed.

Subject: Recent study and the conclusion

Dear Friends,
This study also caught my eye.

Baby-led compared with scheduled (or mixed) breastfeeding for successful breastfeeding.
Fallon A, Van der Putten D, Dring C, Moylett EH, Fealy G, Devane D.
Cochrane Database Syst Rev. 2016 Sep 28;9:CD009067. [Epub ahead of print] Review.
PMID: 27673478

The conclusion really bothered me. It made it sound like because we have no studies, we have no guidance. I would have thought then we refer to expert opinion like the ABM, AAP, and WHO, who recommend nursing on demand.

What do others think?
Thank you!
