I wanted to sneak a story into this thread. Not my own, since my babies were 
born too recently, but my mother-in-law's. She told me that when she nursed 
her first baby 57 years ago, none of the staff in the hospital had ever seen a 
baby nurse. When the baby was brought to her for feedings, the staff would 
gather in her room to watch her feed. She put the baby to her breast with 
absolutely no guidance whatsoever. Her obstetrician would come watch 
sometimes as well, and told her how beautiful he thought it was. Another 
person at the bedside was her closest friend, who after watching my mother-
in-law feed, decided that she wanted to breastfeed her babies as well. And 
she did...
