This may seem like a useless reply - forgive me if this is ignorance, but
here goes. My 8 year old son is lactose intolerant and takes a chewable
pill each time he consumes a lactose-containing product to neutralize the
lactose so that he can digest it without the cramping and diarrhea. Works
wonders for him on most foods, not all.

Couldn't a way be figured out for the baby to "take" a pill via liquid form,
right after the beginning of the feed, to do the same thing and save the
breastfeeding relationship?
