As part of my studies to obtain my Board Certification as a Lactation Consultant, I am reading the IBCLE Code of Ethics. Point #23 states that consent to contact other primary health care providers should be obtained prior to initiating a consult. Within the hospital setting, consent is implied. However, I am not so sure about the WIC setting. Do IBCLC's working at WIC need to ask for consent before consulting? How is this being done at other WIC clinics?
