There ARE happy outcomes in Milwaukee.

I worked with a mom and baby 2 1/2 months ago with a failure to latch on
problem.  Baby was 5 days old.  She did latch on and there was much joy for
a few seconds--until a Tsunami of a let down came at her (a tidal wave).
She pulled off and concluded that that was NOT a safe way to feed.  We
worked for over a week, when mom decided to pump and give her milk in a
bottle.  I encouraged her to continue the gentle, "invitational" offering of
the breast along with the skin-to-skin, bath, etc.-- fun stuff.

I told her of the cases I had had of "One day..."

Yesterday she called me, with smiles dripping all over her words, to tell me
that her precious baby girl accepted the "invitation" and is now totally
breastfeeding.  I joined in her joy and thanked her for calling me.  How
often they don't think to call.

I asked, "Did I tell you about other mothers I had worked with..."  She
interrupted, "Yes, you did-several times.  And every day I remembered those
other mothers and babies, and I kept hoping."

WOW!!
