Dear all,

Once somebody on this list posted a link to a youtube clip about a
neonatologist proclaiming how beneficial ebm is for premature babies. I
can't find it anymore. Can somebody help me?

Presently I am teaching in a university hospital in Belgium. My audience
consists partly of nurses on the neonatology ward and the NICU. During my
presentations we start discussions, and it seems I come from another planet.
I am really flabbergasted about the way the neonatologists there think on
giving ebm to premature babies (no fresh milk can be given to premature
babies because this is not hygienic, oral feeding must be postponed as long
as possible because of the risk of NEC). Can anybody give me some simple and
convincing references on when to start giving ebm (either as feeding or as
"minimal enteral feeding" to promote gut hormones and maturation)? That
would save me some searching that I don't have time for. Thanks very much in
advance.

Best regards,

Karin
