Hello to everyone,
First, I should like to introduce myself as I have been a lurker for
awhile.  I am an RN on a Family Centered Maternity Unit(been there for 7
1/2 yrs) and prior to that I was a pediatric nurse (about 14 yrs worth
there).  I am the breastfeeding support person on our unit and plan to sit
the exam this summer.
Now on to my problem.  Yesterday we had a mock JCAHO survery.  I
fortunately missed this but was told by the Nurse Manager what went on.
The lady asked about nutritional consults for breastfeeding moms, which we
have in place.  She then asked about consults on lactating moms!  Our
dietician tried patiently to explain that our consult encompasses both
types of moms.  My question(s) is:  Has anyone else run into this?  And am
I missing something here, is there a difference in the two?  Also, if
there is a difference what can I tell the dietician to change regarding
her consults?
