I would like to share a story that happened to me a few years ago 
regarding accuracy and scales. I rec'd a phone call from anxious new 
parents, I honestly do not remember the exact nature of the call.  But I 
do remember that part of my advise was to bring the baby to the lactation 
center or the pediatrician's office for a weight check.  The family were 
willing, but we live in a rural  area, and this involved a significant 
drive.  The father asked if he could just weigh the baby on their scale.  
I at first said "no", but then he explained that they were turkey farmers, 
and had scales acurate to the 10th of an oz.  He said his scales were very 
acurate "after all, money is involved".  At the time I just thought it was 
humerous, but it does make you think!
