I'd also like to say that I agree that lots of folks interpret the 4-6 mo
rule to mean start solids right when the babe is 4 mos.  In fact a mom called
me yesterday and said the ped wants her to start cereal but the baby is not
interested (3 mos old).

I vote for before a bf, but really, if we just let the baby take the lead and
grab the food etc this could happen right before a bf - who knows!  I know
for my first baby it was so hard to follow the dr's rules of give cereal at
10, 2, and 6 or some such nonsense - I could not always get it to be before a
bf.  Live and learn and RELAX.
