Jo Ann,

Unfortunately, all of my children have needed dental work. They all have
had chloral hydrate. Our dentist did not have them fast the night
before. The morning of the appointment they did need to have an empty
stomach, but this was so the chloral hydrate would take effect, which was
given to them an hour before the appointment. I don't know about the
other medication you mention. Personally, I'd find another dentist.

Our dentist prescribes the chloral hydrate to kids under 3 years to help
them relax. It kind of makes them drunk. Then he precedes to give them
the usual novocaine when they arrive.

I have also substituted Rescue Remedy. You can find info about it in the
archives.

Hope this helps.

Aloha,
Gloria Thai LLLLeader Hawai'i
