Virginia makes a good point - "The implication, at least as seen by some of
the mothers, was that it must be better."

I appreciate hearing about previous experiences and learning from them!

If we succeed in turning things around, as we have seen in some local WIC
sites, the number of breastfeeding mothers may very well increase. Then
maybe we could just stop distributing ANY formula and - just use the "Food
Stamp" method of giving cash to supplement low-income families' needs and
letting THEM decide how to spend it rather than marketing specific products.

WIC then could concentrate in being what it was designed to be - a nutrition
EDUCATION and support system that could link to and add extra to the Food
Stamps dispensed to the families.

.just thinking out loud, here.

Vacaville, CA - where it is COOL and "rainy" (we only get 22 inches a year,
so we appreciate any day with water coming down.)
