There was a study in Costa Rica to see if there were benefits to helping
moms in hospital to breastfeed.
One noted result was: fewer abandoned babies. Perhaps the effect of BFing
was that mom couldn't leave her baby.
Don't remember the citation, but a web search with terms like "abandon",
"Costa Rica", "breastfeeding", etc should turn it up.
