Thanks for the information provided so far.  To answer various
questions posed:
This mom is only 30 years old;
This is not 2-3 days of spotting she is experiencing, it is a solid week
of heavy staining (yes, she considers it liner-worthy).  The way she
sees it, it's a little fustrating to have to be concerned about hygiene 2
weeks out of the month.

I'll pass on the reassurances that it probably *isn't* bf related, and that
it doesn't seem to be uncommon.
