Dear all:

As others have more articulately stated and has repeated, health care practitioners are
supposed to educate parents with evidence-based information about alternative feeding
methods when these need to be used or the parents use to them. My reading of the code is
that we are supposed to educate them how to do so in the safest possible way. So, this
does not preclude addressing problems when you need to use alternatives.

The Code is not about the appropriate use of alternatives it is about misleading advertising.

Even Microsoft got nailed when they were using inappropriate marketing practices. Once
upon a time when they were a small start up company they actually wrote better, more
creative software. As they grew bigger they demolished many a good little software
company that had better software than what they have now. Furthermore, I think their
1987 versions of their software actually functioned more reliably than their 2008 version.
So, it appears to me that Medela is unfortunately moving along a similar trajectory.

Best, Susan
