I agree with you about the lack of *real* S2S contact when using
typical nursing bras.  I am reluctant, however to suggest lifting the
bra OVER the breast to nurse, since the pressure on the upper part of
the breasts can restrict the milk flow and cause plugged ducts.

One alternative is to wear a regular (non-nursing) bra that has some
stretch. Cotton-knit fabric works well. Have the mother slip the
shoulder strap down onto her upper arm and then pull the cup DOWN.
This also has the advantage of providing some breast support for
zaftig women.
