the basic concept is that you are either a salaried or hourly employee. hourly
employees are paid by the hour, and are guaranteed work breaks by law.
salaried employees work for a salary with no set work times, and any breaks
given or allowed by the employer are a "courtesy," although i would hesitate
to make a pharmacist work twelve hours with no break, and expect them to do
their work safely!
