I would want to know what his 24 hour intake is. I would have the mom use a
scale and do test weights for 24 hours and calculate appx how many calories
he is taking via milk. Do you really need to go to a creamatocrit before you
even know the volume??? If he is a child with a lot of allergies it seems logical
that his body would prefer breastmilk - my daughter can't even look at a
tomato or have one near her plate - my dad was the same way until my mom
taught him to love tomatoes and now he breaks out in hives when he eats
them, so he doesn't eat them anymore. Sometimes, I think kids know that
food is dangerous for them, don't ask me how, but I think they know...If this
little guy is not taking in enough calories via breastmilk, and the mom is game
then I would consider Domperidone to boost her supply for the time being and
see if that helps him put on weight. If he is taking in adequate calories and he
is still small, then I would just assume that he is active, has a quick
metabolism etc etc and not worry unless he has some other health issue.
