There's a good review article on omega-3 fatty acids throughout the
lifespan. It was published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition,
1991, Vol. 54, pages 438-463. It includes discussion of breast milk. Of
course the conclusion is that all infant formulas should be supplemented or
taken off the market -- they don't conclude that breastfeeding should be
promoted. Sigh. Still -- great bibliography, and talks about the whole
lifespan and all the ways that omega-3 fatty acids are important to human
health.
