Thanks Kathleen,
Mom and Dad are both on Diflucan, nystatin to nipples and baby's mouth. No
diaper rash at present and no vaginal infection either right now. They take
acidophilus and are getting back on their "anti-yeast" diet.
Bottles and pacifiers are being boiled and discarded once a week.
Lots of hand washing, paper towels by the sinks, everything a la Kay Hoover's
info.
I'll check on dosage of Diflucan, but need to find a reference if I am to
presuade the OB to prescribe it for longer term treatment.
Thanks for the help. I've just never met someone who has had thrush for years
like this. Of course am trying to look at all posibilities and other things
that can be complicating the picture.
Jane

Jane, according to Jack Newman, MD, * in a telephone conversation of late*,
Diflucan must be given until mother is PAIN FREE for one week. Beginning
dose is 400 mg po, STAT day one, and then dose is 200 mg po every day until
mother has been pain free for one week.

Of course, baby must also be treated.

Is she re-infecting herself with frozen contaminated milk, pacifiers, etc? >>
