Squeeky swallows can be from laryngeal penetration (vocal cords closing
as baby has to close the airway to swallow while trying to breathe) or
laryngomalacia or other airway instabilities. The squeek from laryngeal
penetration is usually very brief, the squeek from laryngomalacia is
longer and on the in-breath, and from tracheomalacia is on the out-breath.

Straddle hold or 'laid back' positions can really help. We don't want
loud or squeeky swallows! Quiet 'cuh' swallows are least effortful and
usually are larger mouthfuls than 'hard' gulpy swallows.
