Gatifloxacin is a fluoroquinolone antimicrobial.
Although not specifically contraindicated in breastfeeding, there is a
precaution not to use it during breastfeeding.
Therefore, it basically has the same precaution as all of the other
fluorquinolones.
If it is to be used, I would agree with Dr. Newman's previous comment in
Lactnet.
Also, I would have suggested ofloxacin, norfloxacin, or ciprofloxacin which
seem to have better established track records in breastfeeding situations.
