I have successfully used by Rescue Remedy and NSP's Distress Remedy in
infants as young as two hours old. Because these are both homeopathic
flower-based remedies with miniscule amounts of actual particulate, they do
not need to be diluted. Only the actual volumetric dosage needs to be
altered. Thus, if you were to give 15-20 drops to an adult, a baby would
require only 3-5 drops. Remember, the basis for homeopathy is NOT giving
large quantities; rather, it is to stimulate the host's immune system to
heal itself through the extremely dilute/titrated introduction of
substances with certain properties particular to that condition. It is
vitally important that the frequency of dosage be adhered to though. This
usually means small quantities given at regular, short intervals such as
every 10-15 minutes for an hour. This usually makes those of us used to
western allopathic medicine very nervous (ie. we would never give
acetomenophen this way). It helps to recall that with homeopathic medicine
giving an entire bottle of these remedies is neither dangerous, nor
helpful. The same is NOT true for herbal preparations NOT based on the
homeopathic theory of multiple titrations.
