Hi all
When dealing with parents of premature babies how are you currently advising
parents to clean/sterilise their expression kits and bottles. In the SCN we
supply sterilised kits while the mothers are visiting and advise adequate
sterilisation of kits and bottles for home use. We also provide sterile
jars in which to put their milk into. We have taken the view that we can't
be too careful when dealing with pre-term babies. Some of my reading lately
suggests that washing in warm soapy water and rinsing thoroughing is
sufficient. I would appreciate anyone working in SCN to share their
practices.
Thanks
Marian Rigney RN
