<<If mom is pumping, she should stop. (Just express enough to relieve her discomfort.)>>

I wish I could remember where I read this, but quite a few months ago I read that rather than pumping just enough to relieve discomfort, that mums with oversupply have found success by actually pumping until nothing more comes out with the pump. I have had oversupply with each of my four children, so when I had my last baby at the end of May of this year, I tried this technique and rather than suffering from continued oversupply for months on end, I had the oversupply resolved by about 6 weeks post partum. I still occasionally will get over-full and rather than pump enough to relieve engorgement (which usually stimulates a let-down for me, thus defeating the whole purpose of pumping just to get relief), I will pump the affected side completely and it's really working well. So if this mum is pumping then she might want to consider doing what I did and I will try to research to find where I read about the pumping all the way vs. pumping to get relief so that this isn't mere hearsay. I don't know if it will help with Julie's mum but if oversupply is her client's issue, then this pumping technique might be useful to her.
