I am a hospital based RN, IBCLC. I arrived at work today and was met by a very frustrated secretary. She is no longer able to charge for lactation supplies (ie; breast pump kits, breast shells, shields...We haven't tried checking SNS yet.) The best answer that we have is that Medicare is no longer paying for such items. We were given no warning or information. In the past, if Medicare wouldn't pay for it, neither would any insurance company. Are any of you experiencing the same? With it being the weekend, there is no one available to confirm or deny it. I did an archive check and didn't find any recent mention of Medicare reimbursement.
Please respond privately. Thanks.
