Brenda, have your mom go to Susan Love's web site.  I am sorry I don't have
the exact URL but a search will get her there.  At her site there is a place
for women to ask questions.

Just my thoughts, it sounds to be a cyst, which can just continue to refill.
Since she is also lactating the pressure of the filling ducts may make the
cyst more painful.  So, keeping her breast as empty as possible should help some
with the discomfort.
