Hi.
I received a call today from a mom with a 3 week old boy. She has a sore
spot on one breast, baby refuses to nurse that side. Sore tender spot since
the weekend, it is not hot or red but she can feel a lump. She does not
have any "typical" mastitis symptoms. She pumped that side last night and
only removed about 2cc's, when baby does nurse that side she can't hear him
swallowing. (though she said she knows he does)
I am a lay person....just a nursing mom with a desire to help other nursing
moms. I myself just last week had a plugged duct and her symptoms sound just
like mine. I told her what I did and what it sounded like to me. But I also
asked if I could ask the experts. (Obviously she said yes) I told her she
could pump since baby was refusing to nurse that side. (He will nurse the
other side just fine)
What are your thoughts?
Virginia
