Dear wise ones, I have been told lately by some of our NICU nurses and several moms that they were under the impression that even though fresh "mature" EBM is better than frozen "mature" EBM, that frozen colostrum should be used when available, preferred over fresh "mature" EBM. I thought fresh was always the best policy - if the only colostrum that is available is frozen, is it still better to use that than to use the fresh EBM that mom is supplying several weeks down the road when baby is finally able to take enteral feedings? Will someone please clear up my confusion? Thanks!! By the way - Dr. Jack Newman, I think you're wonderful!! I enjoy all of the advice and information that fellow lactnetters provide. Thanks to you all!!!
