I spoke with a lady today (who gave me permission to post) who has PCOS, and
has been told she will need to wean her 2 y/o before starting it. I told her
about Dr. Hale's study if she does decide to keep nursing, but she wants to
know about the possibility of finding an herbal alternative that is known to
be safe while nursing, as well as possibilities for "treating" her PCOS.
She asked about Ladies Mantle, black cohash, penny royal, blessed thistle,
euchu, burdock, capsicum, dong quai, and evening primrose. I told her that
fenugreek has been used historically for decreasing blood sugar, and is safe
while nursing, but I have no earthly idea if the dose is the same, if the
effect is dose-dependant, and I assume there is no research on the subject.

Any thoughts? I do have an herbal reference at the office, but Tuesdays are
the day I have promised my son I will TRY not to go in there!

Thanks-
