In continuing to try to learn more effective techniques to deal with
overwhelming breast engorgement the posts about manual lymph drainage
interest me. I want to know more. I did a web search and found
several schools that offer training, and this book (below) on
Amazon.com. Has anyone read it and if so do you recommend it for LC
use?

The doctor Alison Hazelbaker mentioned in relation to reduction of
fibroids with manual lymph drainage came up in one of the articles from
my search. Their little blurb follows below.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Lymph Drainage Therapy

Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT) is a hands-on method for lymphatic drainage
which was developed by Bruno Chikly, MD.
With a basis in traditional drainage practices, LDT combines precise
anatomy with techniques of listening to enable practitioners
of LDT to more effectively feel and thereby affect the lymphatic flow.

The procedure for LDT involves subtle manual maneuvers to aid in the
recirculation of lymph. The practitioner works with flat
hands, utilizing all of the fingers to simulate wave-like movements.
This enables the practioner to feel the rhythm of the body
fluids to determine the exact pressure, direction and rhythm needed.

Lymph Drainage Therapy has been proven to aid in the absorbtion of
toxins, assist the body in deep cleansing, stimulate fluid
circulation and the work of the immune system, absorb fat molecules,
induce deep relaxatioon and activate antispastic actions.

This technique has been found effective with many medical conditions
including lymphoedema.

----------------------------------------------------------

At this URL http://iahe.com/ldt.htm a course is described called
Lymph Drainage Therapy II.

They go on to describe it as follows

"In LDTII you’ll review and hone existing skills plus learn new
refinements and
advanced drainage techniques for all surface areas of the body along
with various pathological conditions. A
significant portion of class time will be spent, as well, studying the
foundational principles of lymphedema care."

In the class syllabus they say it includes
"An extensive protocol for drainage of the breasts"
----------------------------------------------------------

Does anyone know more about this training? Has anyone taken it? Is it
valuable for the breastfeeding mother, with or without engorgement? Can
it be "summed up" for LCs or do we need to take the entire course to
benefit?

----------------------------------------------------------

If you are familiar with this, can share some advice on course or books
or share specific techniques please speak up. Is anyone in the
lactation community planning or doing any CERP level classes aimed at
LCs covering this subject?
