Does anyone have any suggestions re the causes and treatment of oversupply?
This mother had extreme oversupply with her first child such that she
weaned at 7 weeks because of the extreme discomfort despite trying
suggestions such as cabbage leaves, stretching the time between feeds,
ensuring optimal positioning and attachment, feeding on one side only at a
feed. Her baby was very unsettled too (not enough fatty hindmilk to slow
down gut movement and too much foremilk?)
She is now 6 months pregnant and is very worried this scenario may happen
again. Is there anything she can do at present? I have suggested she see an
endocrinologist re her prolactin levels. Any other suggestions would be
gratefully considered.
