Would this lady's primary care doc be willing to go to bat for her with the
other physician?  I'd sure be hopping mad if one of my colleagues made such
an uncalled for statement to one of my patients.  I personally probably
would have responded pretty aggressively if given such a statement myself.
"Oh really?  Are you aware of your professional organizations position on
infant feeding?"  (If AAP, at least 1 year, if AAFP, at least 2 years is
recommended.)  Also, should moms give up the benefit to them of breast
cancer protection?  Any why, because mom and baby might enjoy the nursing
relationship?  How horrible.  Maybe she should stop hugging the child too.
And there's certainly no point to  trying to choose nutritious foods.  After
10 mos, babies apparently don't need good nutrition.
