Perhaps you could call the OB and ask for the documentation that the amount
of oxytocin released during breastfeeding is the amount needed to cause
contractions. You've been wondering about that -- you are interested in
making notations for a study to share with 2000 of your nearest & dearest
colleagues world wide, and you'd be REALLY interested in his citations. You
would like to know (a) How many units of oxytocin are released during a 10
minute breastfeeding session 4 or 5 times a day. (b) How many units of
oxytocin are released during orgasm. (c) How many units of Pitocin it takes
over how long a period of time prior to ripening of the cervix in order to
induce labor. (d) The definitive studies on bf during pregnancy causing
preterm labor, vs not bf during pregnancy, vs sex during pregnancy etc etc
etc.

Jan -- who is REALLY very tired of this sort of nonsense from educated (?)
health professionals who really should know better.
