All of this talk about weaning on one side beause of recurrent mastitis got
me thinking. Perhaps these questions are obvious, but:

What are the hormonal ramifications of nursing from one side only?

Does the body produce as much prolactin as with two-sided nursing if the
frequency of nursing is the same?

Is the menstrual cycle (if applicable) less regular?

I know a study was done some 30 years ago that showed a significantly higher
incidence of cancer in the non-used breast in a culture of women who
practiced one-sided nursing. Does anyone have any more info about this
topic?

(The topic is near and dear to my heart: I weaned from one side at 14
months because of impossible eczema on that nipple, which cleared up very
soon after, and have been nursing from the other side exclusively for the
last 2 + years. Incidentally, according to my 3 year old, my breasts have 2
different names: "This one's the nana and this one's the boobie!")

WarmLLLy and LLLopsidedly:),
