Here's another recent incident related to a mom taking her EBM thru a TSA checkpoint.

I want to bring an incident to the attention of the Lactnet community. I would love to hear if anyone knows of other women with similar experiences.

How many of you heard about Stacey Armato, working mother of a 7 month old infant, who traveled through the Phoenix airport on her way home to Los Angeles with 12 oz of breast milk? Apparently when going through security she asked that her breast milk not be radiated by the X-ray machine and instead be tested for explosive residue. Even with a hard copy of the TSA guidelines in her hands (she was prepared!), she was still delayed for over an hour in the special screening area. In the end she missed her flight home AND the security manager made her pour her milk that was stored in 3 ounces quantities into containers with less than 1.5 ounces of milk each. This, in spite of TSA's own guidelines that exempts breast milk from this rule. Then they made her go back through security...again.
