Hello Karen,
I am a WIC PC and I certainly encourage babywearing amongst my WIC clients.
Of course the majority of moms still lug their baby buckets around but here
are a few things the PCs do at our location:
1) Model babywearing - several of us PCs are frequently seen wearing our
babies around the clinic, while leading classes or when helping moms.
Clients frequently ask us about our carriers.
2) Pass out quality babywearing info and "do it yourself" wrap info when
moms seem interested.
3) Demo/ Raffle off wraps, etc - we have any annual WBW "tea" where we often
do raffle that includes some homemade wraps. A PC will usually do a
babywearing demonstration at this event.
4) One PC has been trying to hold babywearing demos following our BF
"enroll" baby class for mothers that are interested.

Now that the WIC staff is pretty familiar with the PCs wearing their babies,
they will often direct moms to us for not just BF support but also for
babywearing support. If your clinic does not have PCs with babies that come
to work with them you might consider calling your local LLL group and
arranging a babywearing demo through them.

I still have to chuckle when a mom comes into a class pushing a gigantic
stroller with the car seat clicked in...the whole lot of equipment is so
cumbersome and bulky that I wonder why moms think it is so difficult to just
hold their darling newborn....
