i have a mom soliciting me via email to donate milk. she heard of me through
a friend of a friend of a friend online. she is actually asking anyone she can
find who is lactating in any state! she has an adopted 5 month old she says
is completely unable to tolerate formula. she was paying a woman here in
michigan to pump and donate to her - she paid for shipping and all costs. she
previously was purchasing milk through a milk bank but can no longer afford it and
also said she thinks it is not as good as 'fresh' milk. she is also adopting a
newborn in december and wants milk for that baby as well. i have asked her
about lactating herself - she tried reglan and had to quit due to the side
effects. she says she lives in a tiny community and has no support system
whatsoever. never been pg, has no ovaries or uterus, really doesn't think she can make
milk. she gave me her permission to post here. i know someone here has much
more experience than i - i am out of my league on this one... i would love to be
pointed in the right direction or even have someone more knowledgeable in
contact with this mom, if anyone is willing! i did connect her with the link for
the adoptive breastfeeding resource website but i think she needs a person to
talk to. i normally wouldn't want to impose on the list, but this mom really
seems to be committed and i don't think i can help her any more than she has
