Hello all,

I am an IBCLC with a patient at 4 weeks postpartum who has a UTI. She is
being treated with Macrobid until this Wednesday, September 11. She has
been pumping and dumping upon the advice of her pediatrician and would like
to start breastfeeding again after completing therapy. This is the only drug
that the organism was sensitive to.

Here is my question: How long does she have to wait until re-starting
nursing after completing the drug. Does she need a washout period?

I was unable to send this question to Jack Newman or Thomas Hale and am
hoping that one of them is reading Lactnet!

Thanks for your help with this.

IBCLC
