Sue said,

Let one parent take Cohen's advice to put the baby down at a "reasonable
hour" while still awake and come back at 7:00AM.... and have that baby
be dead for any reason at all, and the liability could be astronomical.
If I were that man's publisher, I would be concerned, disclaimer or no
disclaimer.
********************************************

How I wish that were true, but it isn't. I chatted with the president of one
of the major Christian publishing companies here in the Wheaton are about the
extent of publisher liability in this sort of case (relative to another
book), and he said it is basically buyer beware....authors can write anything;
publishers can publish anything, and if the public follows it -- to their
detriment -- there is still no liability on the part of the publisher, regardless of
the intials behind the author's name.

And the publisher doesn't even have to put a disclaimer in the book.

What it boils down to is that anyone can write anything, any publisher can
publish anything, and if there are bad outcomes, it's just basically too bad.
