Hi Cathy and all lactnetters,
I found your post most helpful in suggesting some guidelines for moms who
plan to exclusively pump and ebm-feed their babies. How do you all reconcile
the mind-jogging information that breastfed babies do not actually increase
their volume  of milk intake over the months? I figure if babies are
breastfeeding ad libitum (unrestricted) that they 'engineer' the calorie
count based on their frequency of feeding. Mother's pumping on an arbitrary
schedule would not be able to do this. Cathy, in your experience it seems 20
oz does nicely in the newborn period, and mothers need to increase up to
about 32 oz for the later months? Do you find this sustains good growth of
the babies to 6 months or more?

Please anyone with a good understanding of this topic chime in.
