We don't suction gastric secretions any more but I am certainly enjoying the
discussion of the ubiquitous bulb syringe!  I tell my childbirth classes,
"This is how we say Welcome to the world, my little darling, " here in the
U.S. -- stick that gross thing up their noses and down their throats and
shhhhhlllllrrrrrrkkkkk!
    (The dady afraid of an emergency birth in the back seat on a snowy road
says, "Do I need one of those shhhllrrkk things??")
    Think about the nativity scene.  Ever see a bulb syringe??
