I've got another one that I need help with.....

Mother has "lump" in her left breast that is elongated, as if it is a "fibrous
band or an inflamed duct" which she just noticed this week.   In addition to
that, she has tingling in her left arm for the last few days.  The mass is
underneath her breast, as in the
5 o'clock position as you look at the breast and tender, although no redness.
It feels connected to the chest wall, according to mom and extends up the
breast for about at least an inch.  The doctor at the military hospital thinks
it is just a plugged duct and prescribed an antibiotic, with the advice that
if the mass doesn't clear in 2 weeks, Mom can see the surgeon.  This is the
preferred breast of the baby so it regularly is nursed on.   An EKG was done
because of the arm tingling and was normal.

Why would she need an antibiotic for a plugged duct?  Are these symptoms
fairly typical for a plug?  Mom has had mastitis before in this breast but
never noticed any lumps.  Baby is 12 months.

Any advice would be appreciated.
